01 — The practice

Senior design attention, at a scale you can actually engage.

Most owners face a choice between a large firm that assigns them a junior team, and a drafter who hands over documents without design. EVP Design is the third option — a principal with thirty-eight years on complex public buildings, working directly on your project from the first sketch to the last site visit.

The practice has run since July 2020 and was organized as a Georgia limited liability company in 2026. Production beyond the principal is contracted per project, so fees stay proportionate to the work and the person you hire is the person who draws.

Three ways to begin.

Each stage can be commissioned alone or in sequence. Most projects start with a Study — the smallest useful commitment that still answers whether the thing you want is possible.

Working with a registered architect Where a project requires drawings sealed by a registered architect under Georgia law, EVP Design serves as design lead and consultant beneath a registered architect of record, identified to you before work begins. On buildings exempt from that requirement — one- and two-family residences, domestic outbuildings and qualifying small single-story structures — EVP Design produces the design and documentation directly. We tell you which category your project falls into at the first conversation, before you spend anything.

05 — Approach

Seven steps, and the first one is free.

Conversation

A no-fee discussion of what you are trying to build, what it must do and what you can spend. We identify whether the project needs a registered architect of record and tell you plainly.

Proposal

A written proposal naming scope, deliverables, fee basis, schedule and — where applicable — the architect of record. Nothing begins before it is signed.

Programming

We establish what the building must contain: every space, its size, its adjacencies and how people move between them. This is the stage that prevents expensive discoveries later.

Concept & study

Hand sketching and three-dimensional modeling to test ideas quickly. You see options before anything is committed.

Design

The concept resolves into a designed building — plans, elevations, materials and rendered views your board, council or congregation can actually understand and approve.

Documentation

Construction documents, produced directly for exempt structures or in coordination with the architect of record and engineering consultants where a seal is required.

Construction

Bid and award support, site observation and submittal review — so the building that gets built is the one that was designed.

06 — The founder

Eric V. Peek is a native of Atlanta. He watched a railroad town become an international city, and that transformation became the subject of his education. At the Georgia Institute of Technology he earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Master of Architecture; both his senior design project and his graduate thesis — An Architectural Edifice on the Edge of City — addressed the fragmented urban edge and how it resolves into a continuous new urbanism.

He has spent his career on buildings that hold public life: courthouses and jails, stadiums and recreation centers, city halls and community centers, universities and churches. He is accomplished in programming, planning and executing complex projects on schedule, and is well regarded for designing buildings that meet a client’s objectives and strengthen their operational philosophy.

Alongside the practice he serves as a Lecturer at the Clemson University School of Architecture, teaching professional practice, and continues to mentor emerging designers.
